Even though you've accused me of having my head up my arres I'll still give you some advice lol ( that's if you want to take it )

Romraider is the first port of call for most

http://www.romraider.com/
Lots of stuff on here about the actuall process

Also this contains a good bit of info
https://sites.google.com/site/asubie...gguide/ver-1-0

Nasioc is also a good source for info

As for learning the only bespoke place I know is
The engine management academy
http://www.emacademy.co.uk/
There's plenty of reading to do before actually mapping
And when you start try bits and bobs on your own car little steps messing about finding out what does what and why

Hope this helps a little

I have mate, read everything on the links you posted, anything else good? And I'm not sure tbh mate, got my car re-tweaked with Graham (engine mapper) yesterday and he has done a mint job as usual. I'm more just into learning about it all and seeing what my car is doing, Will probably get one in the future, just expense I don't need at the mo'

It's one of those things that most folk dont pay that much attention to these days
Odd really because a few years ago many folk were changing carbs and tweaking them , same with the old points rotating the distributor for your timing electronic ignition swaps ect

Mapping is just a modern electronic version ( ok a little more complex )but its basically what folk did manually years ago
Only were you turned a screw on a carb or changed jetting
You now click a button

I suppose it's just keeping up with the times
Wish I would have looked into it many years ago

Just read that now, actually quite funny for a paedophile

Think I'm going to get some gauges first thing so I can keep everything in check!

Get a cable and the software , and do some logging , it's far more educational and interesting than just watching gauges
