Default Re-map Advice.....

Going to get the blob re-mapped and wondered weather to get it on the rollers at the same time as being re-mapped,
would a mapper prefer this or dose it not make any difference?
what are the advantages or disadvantages?
how much is it to do both?

Hi there

This depends on the mapper, how he wants the map the car.

Usually mostly mappers prefer map their customers cars on the RR and later on tweak the car on the road, when car is mapped on the RR usually price for using RR is £50-£70 or more, this depends on RR used and on top Remap price

How long should it take to map 2-3 hours and how much is
the usual map cost.

£150+vat for the licence fee then who ever you choose to map it, normal price is around £280-£350 marker that's for an ecutek map.

Alternatively you can go os route and will save you paying the licence fee but mapping costs are around the same, was quoted £250 for an os map when I asked about it first starting out, cant remember who it was I got the quote from tho and with os you can have the Carberry rom which from all accounts gives you antilag, launch control, flat foot shifting all in for the price you pay rather than having it activated for an extra cost

I all ready have simtec with anti lag, launch control and switchable maps,
just need updating after fitting bigger injectors and an FPR.

Ahh furry muff

Would just be a tweak then really, who mapped it for you originally?

I'm not sure with a simtek if one mapper will "tweak" another's map or if they do a full map from scratch again tbh, I'm sure somebody else will know that, but if they can't or won't tweak another's map then cost effective route would be to use the original mapper to adjust the map on there already

Hi there

This depends on the mapper, but as you are said 2-3 hours is top.

On yours SimTek should be easier to do so,but I would enquire this from mappers like Duncan@RaceDynamix or Simon@JGM or Graham@EngineMapper,MartynJ@EngineTuner etc

Every mapper charging their price, but usual tweak start from £100 plus dyno time

Tend to find the combination of rolling road and road mapping works best.
Depending on what you want and whether you are happy to travel to a dyno dictates which route suits best really.

Where abouts on the south coast? Often at surreyrollingroad.co.uk and subaru4you.co.uk both with dynos.

Just for info its not possible to tweak anothef dealers map on a simtek

Just up the road from me

Alcatek would need to be remapped from scratch by the new mapper, whether me or Simon or whoever. As simon says subaru4u or SRR are equal distance from you or DD dyno in littlehampton too with a good setup too.

makes you wonder if its all worth it,
so start from scratch or drive 300 miles for a tweak is that right.
how much is all this going to cost from scratch?

Possibly better to come to you and road map it due to injector change and then tweak on a dyno if required

Hi there

You will not gain anything putting bigger injectors on yours Non-Turbo bugeye,Remap is not possible on Non-Turbo and you have limited options how to increase the power like exhaust and headers, but still your car can't be remapped

You will be better save the money on WRX or STi car if you are looking for more power

Its shame, but sadly yours car is not mappable at moment
