Default Decat to Sports cat - Can my car run safely pre-mapping?

Would really appreciate a bit of input from you lot on this:

I have had the de-cat downpipe on my classic swapped for a 200-cell sports cat and immediately noticed a drop of in responsiveness - obviously the map will need tweaking for it to run optimally. I am aware even with mapping it won't be quite as good as a full de-cat.

My question is in the mean time is the engine safe to run? Were I going to a de-cat from a sports cat I would be keeping off boost but seeing a restriction has been added with the sports cat, surely boost will just be limited but no harm should come to it?

Spec is:

VF28
Alcatek
GT Spec Headers
Walbro
Turbosmart FPR
3" Apexi Exhaust

Many thanks in advance!

In short, behave yourself until it's mapped and you'll be fine.

with it having been mapped for no cat - the EGT's might be a little higher now there is a cat in place if you were to drive it the same. Obviously you've noticed the restriction in the pipe slows the turbo down but shouldn't take much of a tinker to get that back on target. To echo the above, drive it nice until it's been setup for the new parts.

Thanks chaps - will do. Have emailed Andy Forrest so hopefully I can get it done sooner rather than later, but I understand he's probably very busy.
