Align cam sprocket
Hi!
I have trouble with aligning the cam sprockets on the intake side. It's a dowel pin on the camhaft, I suppose the dowel pin has to be inside the hole in the sprocket, right? Any tips of how to do it? Have been trying a couple of hours but don't know for sure if the dowel is in the sprocker or not. It's a sti 2003 with AVCS.
Thank you

I normally turn the camshaft clockwise until the lobes of the cam are touching the buckets and this will prevent the cam from moving when locating the AVCS pulley onto the cam.
If the pin on the cam is for example at the 3 O'clock position, then place the pulley on the cam with the locating hole for the pin in the 12 O'clock position and rotate the pulley clockwise with gentle hand pressure pushing it on while turning - you will hear and feel the pulley drop and locate onto the pin.
Hope this helps,
Mick
