Best bet might be to find a late 2002 JDM bug ecu - I think that Japan had to have OBD-II (which that app relies on) from 2002 (so I'm guessing yours is 2001).
You may actually find a 2003-on ECU works as well...but there is some inconsistency over the years between "JDM pinout" and "UK pinout" (for example my JDM 2005 had a UK pinout).
The other key thing might be MAP sensor scaling as the UK has (I think) a 2.6 bar sensor whereas JDM has a 3 bar.
Most wiring differences can be sorted as it is, usually, just a case of moving a handful of pins around.
Don, thank you for such a quick and informative response. I searched through all of the wiring diagrams I have collected over the years and don’t have any diagrams that are specific enough to list the car’s revision code. Is that something you have access to? If so, I would appreciate seeing the pinout diagram for those revisions. If you don’t mind, I’d like to pm you to discuss that further. I am also hoping to maximize the information output to our 2004 JDM STI gauge cluster.

The information supplied above comes from the JDM Subaru Parts database.
The "Revision" letter is used in a similar way to our (UK/European/Aus) Model Year (MY) BUT can in some cases cover two complete model years.
Information for JDM models is few and far between and i've only ever seen a couple of JDM wiring diagrams.
Wiring for JDM cars can vary significantly from UK/European models as they tend to get upgrades sooner than here, and are more similar to US models (Body Integrated Unit inclusion being one major difference).

Thank you for allowing me to take a class at Don Clark University! I have been using the JDM supplier version number versus the actual production dates when purchasing JDM items. Per the attached version number date ranges from iWire, the reality is that the JDM version number can be wrong due to JDM production being more granular than by year, but instead is month and day dependent as well. I imagine that I am not the only Subaru enthusiast who did not know this critical piece of information. It also demonstrates the JDM suppliers can be a bit sneaky with their part descriptions if we are not vigilant, especially as to ECMs / ECUs.

Reason: typos
Thanks Don. I have one slightly off-topic question related to ECU swapping. In light of the availability of JDM ECU part numbers and the fact that many Subaru JDM enthusiast also swap out their dash cluster to a JDM model, why don't these individuals also swap a JDM DCCD controller into their manual transmission cars instead of using an aftermarket product? It seems like it would be better for a JDM engine and transmission management system to be used with the JDM cluster. Do you similarly have a listing of the JDM DCCD controllers that Subaru put into their JDM WRX/STi A - G revisions?
