options on ecu upgrade-blob sti
looking at treating my new toy to a new ecu in the new year and i would like to know the benefits of the different ones please
car is a forged 2.5 blob sti/fmic/gt30 etc running 436 on standard ecu
not really concerned about gaining more power although if i do then bonus, its more the safety of the engine aspect i will be interested in
i know there is alcatec and syvecs, what are the main advantage of these? what other ecu is worth considering?
cheers

Hi there
Personally I would only consider Syvecs S6 on yours without the questions and I would speak with yours mapper what he recommend and what he is happy to map
Syvecs is best ECU for money which you can buy
And about the which ECU what have and in which is better, please have look on this thread over on 22b
http://bbs.22b.com/forums/showthread...ng-ECU-options
We are running Syvecs S6 on Civic Type R due this,we have few choices, but still Syvecs us offering which other ECU doesn't offer at all
Hope this help
Thanks,Jura

I will be getting paul @ zen performance to supply and map which ever I choose to get as they built the car and paul mapped it originally.
I know the syvecs is the all singing all dancing but it's £600 more than an alcatek and i need to determine if it's £600 better to me.the car isn't a track car or a drag car it's just a fast road car.i need to find out what the syvecs can do that the alcatek can't do then decide

The carberry will give you all the features you want and more.
If your not adding mods then why the need for new ecu? If and when you do add mods get it remapped with carberry and have the extra features fitted like, Al, ffs, LC, switchable maps, mafless etc

First of all I never said I wanted to spend £1500 quid, i want to know what benefits there is on swapping ecu's.i only really know of syvecs/alcatek hence why I asked what are my other options.
After the last **** - storm I had with my last impreza i wanna make sure this one stays fine, surely upgrading the ecu will give me more chance of knowing when something is wrong etc
Like I said I'm not an expert on ecu's that's why I'm asking so don't ridicule me on it please, if you haven't got anything to tell me on ecu's then why read the thread? If you haven't got anything informative to say keep ya trap shut xx

Fair enough, you're probably looking for an ecu which will knock timing into safe mode incase there's something wrong?
In which case I can't give info on that as I don't know which ones give you that.
I'd of thought getting a knock sensor or simlar, I'd be relying on mapper to map to suit depending on how it's going to be driven.

Shrek mate, i said either as 99% of the time for what your average moder requires for road/track both ecu's would be more then enough for your requirements.Paul b has done all my mapping since i purchased my car, coming on 11 years now,if its Paul your getting to map your car,he will recommend you the Syvecs as that is what he recommended me out of the two but as said above unless you need it there are ways to get AL/LC without paying those kinds of monies,Carberry being one.SJ.

Yes agree I would speak with Paul,he will recommend what will be best on yours
Syvecs is worth it extra £600,if you read above thread then you will see why many people choosing the Syvecs over AlcaTek on their cars
Our wagon never been dedicated track or drag car,it has been mostly fast road car which we are used on track or drag strip, but mostly wagon has been day to day used car
Datalogging is worth extra for me,
Thanks,Jura
What power are you running? For safety features which Syvecs offers then I would consider Syvecs
Thanks,Jura
Hence my reply, shrek do you love spending money when not needed?

Carberry will give you proper Wideband control, better knock control, trip function,12 maps or datalogging ?
Plus safety features really worth it to have Syvecs

Syvecs lets you wire the oil temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, water temp and whatever you want into the ecu to allow you to set trips, should any of them get too high or low. This alone for me is worth it on a built engine, syvecs will also pull timing should it detect knock and reintroduce it automatically.
Alcatek is a quality ecu no doubt but for me if you're going to spend and especially if the car is a keeper, then the syvecs is a no brainer

Hi there
Fuel pressure gauge is good to have, but still I would go with Syvecs without the questions.
Fuel pressure, oil pressure and other sensors you can buy easily and with Bluetooth module you can use yours iPad or iPhone and have all those information/sensors will show up on the iPad or iPhone
Its yours car and you need to decide what you want to have,my choice will be Syvecs and good mapper like is Paul@Zen
Are you will be using on yours car 2.5L STI/WRX heads or 2.0L AVCS heads?
Hope this help
Thanks,Jura
