Default What ecu's can have more than one map

Hi I'm thinking of replacing my ecu, I was thinking of doing some track days so want a high power map but also use the car on the road so a normal map for road, can you get ecu's at a budget price with more than one map or would it be better to just get a good ecu with a mid map ?

Dont think you would get a budget ecu, syvecs have 8 map settings but not cheap think there a few other ones available, the standard ecu depending on year can have 2 boost settings with ecutek but dont think its 2 maps though

I might be wrong but im pretty sure that has only one map setting, best getting hold of one of the mappers on here, can pick up a simtek/Alcatek ecu second had for reasonable money and have a few setting mapped on to it.

Syvecs can now have 12.

Alcatek works well and can have multiple maps

Apexi is only one map but can have four boost levels which would do what you want but still on the dreaded 99 maf sensor where as alcatek and syvecs are mafless.

The power fc only has 1 map but
U could get a Apexi then have a boost conroller to switch between standard and high boost on say somthing like a Apexi avcr...

Just a thought

No need for avcr if running a pfc, you can set 4 different boost levels in the ecu and switch between them with the hand commander.

Is keeping the original ECU not an option? I believe that the ECUlabs setup does dual maps and MAF delete. JGM was getting involved with them I think?

Hi is this correct ?
I've got a ecu with a ecutek licence on it but as far as I know they don't do this.

I'm running EcuLabs software on my UK99,options are:

1) 2 maps possible
2)Mafless (Speed Density) mapping, good idea on MY99/00 cars
3)Anti Lag
4)Launch Control (adjustable)
5)Flat foot shifting (clutch switch cuts ignition so no need to back off throttle on gearchanges)
6)Different boost levels for each gear
7)Detonation/Knock detection lights up the CEL light ( I already had a Knocklink)

Plus as you're still using the standard ECU you still have civilised cold starting & all the safety features such as Boost Cut, Rev limiter etc in case you get too carried away lol.
All mapping/software/turbo installation on my car performed by Zak at Mocom Racing in Essex but other places do it as well , Enginetuner in Plymouth etc
Cheers John

Also very intersted in the cost, etc.

Simon, I don't know if you remember our conversation about my car a few months back, we were trying to establish whether or not you had mapped my car in the past.

If so, how much would the conversion cost and for you to add the above features to the car please. Assuming I wouldn't have to pay for a map from scratch.

Car is a 99 UK

This is where it gets complex. The current ecu map is done using Ecutek so yes a completely new map would be required.

There is a basic option retaining the maf which seems pointless on a 99/00 with them being so fragile.
Pricing for conversion and for one map and mafless is £660. There is options to do twin maps and launch control at small amounts extra.

OK, still cheaper than a stand alone option.

Is that price including your travelling to me to MAP? I'm based in Beds.

Also, how much are all the little extras L/C A/L etc please.

Ecutek is not an ecu, its a remap using licensed software, once the licence has been paid for its on the ecu so can be mapped many times for just the cost of mapping.

If yours ECU have EcuTek then I would speak with EcuTek dealer and he can plug the laptop and he will tell you if you have EcuTek

Without this is only guessing game

See bellow my answer on mafless option on yours car

Thanks,Jura

You can't run on earlier Forester Mafless on EcuTek,you can go route of the EcuLab or aftermarket ECU like ESL or many other(AlcaTek or Syvecs etc)

Eculab I think yes,but not on the EcuTek you can't use or have Mafless, only 05 DBW equipped cars can have EcuTek RaceROM

Thanks,Jura
