Normally imobiliser would stop the fuel pump priming though, this is the first issue of the engine swap , read many things about oil pump cranks being different etc or could be faulty cam sensor or crank sensor

The engine already had a cam sensor on it , the engine looked like it had been standing a bit so going to buy a new one tomorrow and find out ! Hopefully that might sort it

What condition was that engine loom on the "new" engine like? At anything up to 13 years old, could it have dodgy wires? Or pins in the connectors dirty or not making good contact?
If you're not seeing a spark, nor the injectors pulsing, then I would think that the ECU is not seeing crank or possibly cam signals as it needs those to obtain "sync" before it will attempt to fire the engine.
Also check fuses to make sure none have gone?
Finally, I'm pretty sure there are workshop manual downloads linked to from the Technical Topics Archive section - the full manual will have diagnostic procedures to follow in the case of non-starting.
