Ok I own a 05 sti uk dccd running 360/380 with geo set up by tsl. The car is great to drive however I know I hav'nt pushed it anywhere near its potential as public roads are not the place to do so. I want to experience the excitment of a track event without screwing the bollocks off my own car, tbh i dont want to abuse it and have to replace tyres/clutch etc etc.

Can anyone recommend a good driving experience on a track with a proffessional driver to teach me how to handle corners, straightline speeds, heal and toe etc...I live in W.Yorkshire.

Thanks all

doing all this in another car will never teach you the driving dynamics of your own car as every car has different handling characteristics. The point of trackdays or driver training IMO is to teach you the limits of your own car, there is no need to thrash it its not a race

^^^ Agree, although for a total beginner you could explore driver training days that have STI's to hire to get you started. Ultimately it's better in your own car.

I didn't want to do the race circuit thing, so went to Blyton (Rally-X circuit) tight and twisty and surprisingly little to hit.... I thought I'd play it steady, but after 10 laps or so I was busy shredding tyres. Now know to pump 'em up hard and play a bit. Best fun I've had in ages, apart from "Marshal's perks" in a variety of forests/venues.

Blyton next Sat is £35, but we are way up North.... Opps just read 1st post !

LOL

P.S. See the WYIOC club section for details, even if you just fancy a ride with our friendly lunatic club members, or join us (!), Bring a crash helmet and smile....

yeah i bet you will!

I have some good roads on the way to work and they are totally clear in the morning so i always tend to go heavy on the loud pedal, but I know i'm not utilising the true potential of the car as i would if on a track. I might consider purchasing some tyres for a track day somewhere, gonna link up with the wyioc boys in the new year especially if they do a track day somewhere.

Hope you well bruv, need to come see you too in the new year, thinks its about time we meet up

Well said, we'll be glad to see you, and anyone else for that matter ! I've just got back from Elvington where Javelin had a track-day running.

Saw TurboTurner in his GTiR, and had a coffee from Bren @ ApexPerformance

Silverstone tyres are a harder compound than the Toyo R888's, and cheaper too. RE-070's are good enough, imho, but you won't want to trash your road tyres will you

MerlinInternational can do a set of wheels (std.) for a really good price (google is your friend !)

Jap night at Squire's in Sherburn Tuesday night.... WYIOC last Thursday in the month at the same venue.

Hope this helps.
