Default Goodyear eagle F1 under steer

Got some goodyear eagle F1 tyres Think there 225 35 ZR17 as recommended by prodrive on my 1995 WRX.. The car now has really bad under steer in the wet which it never had with the old tyres and they where some crappy make that came on the car. Any one else had this with goodyear tyres.

How long have they been on the car?
Does your car have standard suspension?
Has the alignment been set up?

The car will understeer like a bugger anyway.
I've used F1s for my last 2 set of tyre changes and i tthink they are very good (even when the getting down to the bare minimum).
My car is 93wrx, nasty jap coilovers and 205/50/16 tyres

Let them scrub in, the F1 GSD3s I presently have are the best I've used, and I've been through a few different makes in my time!

There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with GSD3 tyres, so you either haven't driven them enough (gently!) to scrub off the casting gel (requires about 100 miles in this weather, about 50 in the summer), or have a geometry problem, or are just expecting too much from this (or any other) tyre for the conditions. Rest assured you have one of the best tyres in the business..

I've done about 60,000 miles on several sets of F1's and they are the best Tyre I've had on the Impreza (prevoiusly had Avon, Toyos and Michelin). Agree with the comments of some of the others though, you definately need at least 100 miles on them before they really start to bite.

I've gone to F1's from Bridgestone RE070's and they are soooo much better. Much better ride and no tramlining. As above posts, do 100 or so miles and they will be fine.

They are good tyres so that probably isn't the issue.

Getting a proper geometry setting done could be a big help.

I’ve had them on for about 4 months so they must be driven in. The car has been lowered by the previous owner but only on the standard shocks. Subaru suggested they do a 4 wheel alignment and use the P1 settings on the front.
Thought about getting some tein coilovers . Anyone tried these.

I think you may have the wrong profile tyre.

IIRC it is supposed to be 205/45/17 or 215/40/17.

Hi, thats because a lot of people think rock hard is best for grip, sometimes that little bit of give helps ride the poor road surfaces we have to put up with.

On the tyre wall, there will be an arrow with the word ROTATION on it, pointing in the direction the tyre should turn when the car is going forward.

I agree with the above posts, best tyres i have ever used.

Don't 225's catch on your arches? I thought Classics could only cope with upto 215 width.

They are 225 40 17 sorry i said 225 35 at the top. Yeah they are on the right way. Think even the plebs at kwik fit can mannage that lol. They dont rub for some reason and the car is dropped 40mm.
Turns out the camber on the FOS wheel was -2 and the FNS wheel on +1 which is a big no no. This is the wheel causing the understeer in right turns. Subaru put them both at -2 and said try it. All seems ok now. What camber settings would be best what ive got or ?????

So are you happy with the F1 now?

Get yourself to a decent place with 4 wheel alignment and have the right settings for your car put on. It's not too bad a trip to Powerstation from where you are, and they'll put excellent settings on..

Yeah - go down there - but keep your hands in your pockets.
More to tempt you there than 40 days and nights in the Judean desert!

Amen to that. I went for a wheel alignment and came out with full Type 25 stage 3 suspension package; 12way coilover ASTs, front and rear sway bar, ALK, droplinks, the lot

I have the same size on a classic and the only rubbing I get is on full lock and a bit of cornering G. Car is lowered and on coilovers
