Question Rockingham Skid training...?

UPDATE- Lower price clicky here: https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ml#post8442809

--------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone interested in doing a 'wet grip' day..?

Fastsaloons have dome a few of these over the last 12mths and they do look very good..

This was their first one last year:

the FastSaloons.com Group :: View topic - Saturday, 17th November 2007 - New date for Wet Grip day

They've run two others since and every one who's been has rated it very highly..

Works out about £125 ish for half day iirc provided we get enough interest..

I'd love to give it a go and was down for the one that never was from SN last year (which IIRC was linked to the Fastsaloons day..?) which 'T5NYW' tried to arrange. Unfortunately there wasn't quite enough interest to make it a goer..

I'm sure a few guys off here have done the same course, rating it very highly.

So anyone fancy giving it a go, if we could get something arranged for ~£125..?

Hi - I intended to go from the 2.5 shootout at Zens to the meet, but the getting all the cars onto the rolling road took all day in the end.
I'll make the next meet as I'm only 5 mins from the needle & awl.

See you there.

+1.

It was a great way to see how our cars work on slippery surfaces without trashing your tyres and an opportunity to experiment with the DCCD.

Where will this get announced then ? Track day section when it comes along?

Does scoobynet have an assigned Track Day Organised which we make this request through?

Thumbs up

Great, looks like we might be able to get the numbers at this rate..

Not sure about the best way to go about this, ie which forum would be best, how to arrange, who to speak to at Rockingham etc, so I'm open to any suggestions/help..

In the meantime, anyone else who's thinking about this, just stick your name on the end of this very provisional list:

1. Jasonius
2. Butty
3. cmasterScoob
4. v8voodoo
5. Pete

Had a reply from Rockingham:

Hi Jason,

Nanette will cover this area of the business and I believe they are confirming dates for next year from December 15th.
If you could give Nanette a call on 01536 271534 around then and she can check availability for you.

I think it's time to hit other forums..

Anyone a regular member of SIDC (I'm a member but not a regular user) who can start something over there..?

Same for any others (22b/Forester etc)..

We have 8 atm, another 8 might do it, but 10-12 would bring price down to a more reasonable level.

Come on people, we can't let this one go, not again..!

Just imagine,we'd be the laughing stock of the owners forums, having our legendary AWD traction , yet as one of the biggest online forums, not being able to get enough people willing to try it out in complete safety..!

I couldn't live with the shame..!

UPDATE:

OK I've spoken to Nanette at Rockingham and we've been pencilled in for the Saturday 28th Feb 2009 (nothing sooner as it has to co-inside with a track day and it'll likely be to dark at the end of the day).

If we have 20 people, x10 am and x10 pm, with an additional instructor, the cost would be £125 each for half a day (~3.5 hrs). Now, we could bring that down by having more people, but a) this means less time individually and b) will take longer to get the numbers confirmed.

I actually think x20 @ £125 each is a very good compromise, given the time we'll have and instruction we'll receive..

Can you add you're names to your preferred slot (provided you're still interested) or PM me your preference and I'll do it for you..

Nick (aka Butty ) is kindly posting a link on a few other forums, so be quick and get your name down..

NOTE: this is still only provisional, nothing concrete, so no obligation as yet.

It's amazing to see so many posts asking what DCCD does and when an opportunity like this arises to try it out on a purpose made low friction surface, there's so little uptake....

Maybe SN houses loads of driving gods that think they'd be better than the Rockingham kickplate and water walls......

It'd be a nice easy Chrimbo pressie for someone too....

As another option to really fill this up, I could post it on Pistonheads. I'm a member over there too. Let me know what you guys think.
