Rear suspension knock at very low speed
I have just bought a 53 plate STI with 15k on the clock, although it was fine when I bought it, it now has sticking sensation coming from the rear suspension when traveling at low speed (e.g. 5mph) along with a slight noise.
If I get under the car and push it doesn't move smoothly but jerks and stops as if somthing is not lubricated properly. Is this a common Scoob fault? What is the most probable culprate? Suspension wishbone bushes, ARB mount bushes or shocks?
Thanks for you help,
Rich

Hi Rich.
If you have a search you'll find that this is a common problem on the newage sti's. Turns out to be the shocks which the dealer will replace under warranty assuming you still have some?
I had the same problem with my 53 plate sti (16k miles). The rear knocked and it felt like one of the springs was sticking when I came to a stop at a junction..........bit like the rear tyres had settled in a small hole in the road Dealer offered to replace but I read that some had theirs replaced two and three times.
In the end I was unhappy with the overall handling anyway and took advantage of a suspension package from Powerstation which transformed the car and cured the problem for less than £1k. Dealer should sort for you though mate!

Phone up days of chelmsford (my local dealer) and have a chat to the guys.
Anyway if you have some warrantee left, just complain that both sides at the back are knocking. Book the car in and 3 hours later you will have new re-designed rear shocks and top mounts fitted foc. It's a known fault and new parts have been designed to cure it.
Easy stuff, they did mine last summer and it's been fine since.

I have got 6 weeks to go (warrantee) on a car I only bought 12 weeks(ish) ago. When I spoke to the receptionist at the dealership she knew all about the rear shock change issue. Keep trying!
Good luck,
Rich

just got back! what a bunch of dumb asses
the engineer never showed up so they checked it!
they called me said the car was ready. went to pick her up and they said the downpipe was a bit loose and it made the noise. told them no way thats what it is, i am sure its the suspension so i took it for a ride and could'nt hear a thing! donno y that happened. got home and its still there
called them back and they said to wait till next week till the "engineer"gets there
not happy with the dealers at all! 3rd time i go there and they deny any problems
as for driving on track umm the car does oversteer a bit more than usual
not sure if its because of my tyres or the suspension!

Spoke to my dealer earlier on and ask if i could get the fault fixed any quicker and they said that they will be able to check the fault this Tuesday.I had a quick word with the engineer and his first thoughts was the suspension fault. so hopefully they will fix it under warranty

Hi there im driving 2005 wrx on a set of JDM 05 spec c sus. It cluck for the rear also you might consider jack up the car and use some LPS2 spray onto the piston shock with the dust cover push upward. It do solve the clunks.
