Engine (Re)build Costs
#1
Just curious really -
Say I was to obtain a JUN Custom Engine kit for an Impreza engine, consisting of Crank, Conrods, Pistons and Rings - what sort money would I be looking at to get either my existing engine, or another one, build with the new bits and bobs?
Also - does anyone know of any trustworthy places that can build enginges?
ta,
Matt

Stay well away from Midland Impreza. After rebuilding my engine they refused to fix the mis-fire as they said it wasn't their fault. In addition the engine almost siezed because they didn't do up the radiator hoses tight, and they forgot to earth the engine to the chassis after re-installing it. Total cowboys Remember you get what you pay for.
There are lots of other firms out there. I think the general cost is £1500 to £3500. It depends on if you put new/old bits back in and the ammount of damage to the engine.

thanks for the heads up - what other suppliers do you know of? Ideally I guess the best thing would be an STi 5 (maybe 4) engine
that could be worked on... re: new/old parts, I would want new
throughout as if you're gonna do it, do it properly n'all that, plus I'm not in any rush... just testing the water with the idea really.
