im getting a slight whine from the transmission on my 04 blob wrx on over-run,say i take it up to 4-5k then back off the throttle it whines a bit

the car is nearly on 96k, it doesnt do it when going up the gears

any ideas?

Maybe diff?
Does it do it at speeds or is it just the 4.5k rev marker?

it only does it when coming off the throttle at mid to high rpm,s or when changing down from 3rd to 2nd at high revs

if im giving the car a good blast it does not whine at all untill i drop the gears or let off the throttle in say 2nd or 3rd

Diff or box maybe, need oil or something, but I'm not an expert at this so just guessing but sure others will confirm
