MAF failure
#1
Hi Everyone
My impreza 1997 turbo has been running strange lately with symptoms of lack acceleration.
So I took it to dealer and said they put the select monitor on my car and says that's the MAF sensor has gone. Up until then my car was going like it was on rocket fuel !!!
So is there anyway of cleaning these things ?? Or do you have to replace the unit ??
Cheers

Hi Gary,
Someone posted a topic mentioning give the MAF a squirt of evaporating cleaning fluid (sorry can't remember exactly which type) and fixing a duff MAF. Problem is, for the most part the MAF looks spot on when you look even though it'll be faulty.
Wrexy managed to get just the MAF sensor for around 50quid over in Greece rather than paying £300 for the sensor and housing. It's worth challenging the Dealer to supply just the MAF sensor.
