Funny noise from turbo...

Hi Folks
I have noticed that if I am very low on revs and then try to accelerate hardish, I get a funny sort of 'scratching' noise from the turbo as it spools up.
Once it gets to about 2.5 revs it goes away.
It is only heard for a second or so.
Any ideas?
I have MY99 RB5 WRSport
