Unhappy

Hi,

Can anyone help please?

Suddenly last night my car started to behave strangely. On acceleration the boost goes up normally to 1.4 bar but, instead of staying there like it normally does, it then wavers madly between 1.4 and 1.0. The feeling is like I'm on and off the gass repeatedly, and it does this all the way to the redline.

I have an HKS EVC3 boost controller and FCD which I've had on for about 6 months with no previous problems whatsoever.

I had an EGT gauge fitted this weekend and I've recently had the cat back on and off for the MOT. But it has been running fine this weekend, just started misbehaving after last nights hailstorm.

Thought it may be some form of overboost due tothe sudden temp drop, but even when boost is set to LOW (1.0 bar max) it does the same thing between 1.0 and 0.7bar

HELP ME SOMEONE PLEASE!!!

Cheers

Rich

Rich maybe solenoid? Worth giving it a clean with brake cleaner(NOT BRAKE FLUID.)Squirt a little down all the pipework and then reconnect.Only takes about 15 minutes.

Thanks for the reply Deep,

but the standard solenoid is disconnected due to running the HKS EVC3 (and it has been for the past 6 months), so it can't be that.

This is something that has come on VERY suddenly.

Cheers anyway though,

Rich

Could be the HKS solenoid. That can get gummed up just like the OE onee......

Cheers chaps,

checked all my hoses and the filters are spotless, so not sure there,

I'll check the solenoid though.

It def. sounds like a wacky solenoid, no matter
wich kind it is.

I had this behaviour, and cleaning helped it.

Thumbs up

Think I've cracked it.

Leaking joint going into dumpvalve. Checked all connections and tightened all round the system and it's ok!

Cheers

Thumbs down

Ooops!

No it's not. Still doing it but not so much now.

Few other ideas have creeped in such as maybe my wastegate actuator spring is a bit weak, causing the wastegate to open erratically.

seems worse now in the higher gears.

Any ideas?

Check to make sure the boost hoses are secure as well so that boost isn't leaking.
Specifically, turbo outlet, intercooler inlet and intercooler exit to throttle body.
