PPP for STi Type UK
#1
Does anyone know if the PPP for the STi Type UK is now available and if so for how much. If it's not yet on the market, when will it be?

Sorry only rumours and hearsay at the moment. A few people have driven the prototype and raved about it.
Estimates for power figures range from 280Bhp to 340Bhp and costs betweeen 1600 and 2500 quid.
It's still being tested by Prodrive/Subaru

Thanks Neil,
On a totally unrelated point saw pictures of your car in the members gallery and liked the wheels (not a gold wheels fan). What are they? The Prodrive upgrades or another supplier. I thought the wheels were difficult to source because of the size of the new calipers?

I swapped the standard brembo brakes for the AP 6 pots off of my old car, and the standard gold wheels for my existing PD7 wheels.
I then sold my old car as standard(cept with PPP) and use the money I got for the STI wheels and brakes as part of a deposit on the STI.
The Standard Bremmbo's are very good(although not quite in AP 6 pot league IMHO), but gold wheels are'nt really to my taste so that was the easiest and cheapest way to go to anthracite. My existing tyres are a little too low a profile(40 rather than 45) which makes the wheels look a little skinny, but since they are nearly new(4000 miles on em) tyres it does'nt make sense to get rid just yet.

Owning a PPP'd MY00 i can say that the in gear performance is much better than the standard car (as most who own a PPP'd car would agree ) but for the STI it should be much better as the car was very restricted to start with (ask Dave T-S) but i would expect the price to be in the region of 2k rather than the 1600 quid for the std PPP for the WRX due to the higher bhp and modifications that the car would need to reach the proposed 300+
If past experience is to go by, its going to be a bargain

I believe Prodrive are close to signing it off, it will then have to be signed off by IM, put into production, made available to dealers etc. That process must take 4-6 weeks, so until it is signed off it will always at least be 4-6 weeks away.
Final spec is probably not such until signed off by IM (there was talk of there possibly being a sports cat downpipe) - and this will dictate price.
Basically, Prodrive are contracted to IM to develop the PPP and *cannot* give away any firm info until authorised to do so.

Re your tyres, if you are on 215/40x17 there is a *big* diffence in rolling diameter - 604mm as opposed to 634mm for 225/45x17 STi OEM. That's 30mm (or 5%) less diameter, and will make a noticeable difference to gearing/speedo/mileometer readings etc.

Dave, I know m8.
I went out with a GPS unit and the speedo is now right on, as opposed to being slightly out (it was over reading 0.6mph every 10mph). Now it's pretty much spot on.
