loss of boost pressure

help!!!!!! driving home the other day i lost half its boost 6psi
on the boost gauge for about 20-25mins then returned to normal
but over the last few days the boost is all over the place from 6psi to 14psi and today its stuck at 11psi and noticatble loss in performance iv`e cleaned out the boost solinoid with intake cleaner but no change i was told it was a faulty boost solinoid is there any way of checking it before i buy a new one at £110 +vat from subaru.

Boost solenoid seems the most likely. But, take it to your dealer. He can fit the solenoid on the understanding that if it doesn't fix the problem he'll refit the old one and not charge you. This is a reasonable request.
