If you've got a solid 500bhp, with good torque, and intend to drive it hard, don't waste your money on an AP, or any other organic clutch, they aren't up to the job.
The Exedy twin plates are more than proven, and the ACT paddle clutches seem to be working well.

I run 601bhp 565ftlbs and it's done 30+ 1/4 mile launches, 6000 miles and i've recently measured plate thickness and that use has taken 0.2mm off the plates from when they were new.
I'm not exactly gentle with it either with a 10.9 1/4 in a full weight car (1343kg with me in it and half a tank of fuel)

This is an interesting thread. Sorry to jump on the band wagon here with my question. I havent the foggiest what power im running at the moment, but its thought to be well over 400bhp on a 2.0 STI.With an uprated brand new 5 Paddle clutch kit from CG Motorsport, it appears this hasnt a hope in hell of launching even after 800miles bedding in, has anyone experience simular issues with a paddle? I really have no complaints about the Exedy Twin plate it's been fantastic so far.

I also have an organic on my 460/460 2.5, but it has not had any hard use at all - maybe 3 or 4 hard launches (1st/2nd) in about 16k miles. Clutch is very easy - same as std clutch.
Thinking of upgrading to a twin plate but could someone tell me how noisy twin plates are - I heard they clatter when the pedal is pressed. Also are they like paddle clutches - difficult to slip in traffic.

If that's your thing, it copes with L/C on my Racerom, which holds the car at 5.5k for a launch
Personally, Its not something I'd advocate doing regularly with any clutch mind (I certainly don't). If you want to put the car in competitions then the twin plate route might be the best option, but there will be concessions in the way the car drives in traffic and they can be on the noisy side. AP is fit and forget and the car drives normally in traffic.

I drive the car to events, and intend on running in say SSO and Grudgments only.
I tried a launch with my last a 2.5 Organic Helix and it handled it well considering, but as it slipped the clutch slightly, but it wasnt the desired controlled launch I was looking for thus I have opted for this uprated 5 Paddle.
I'm ringing the manufacturers again this evening, jjust hope the issues can be resolved or my teddy is out of the pram!
Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I have an exedy twin plate, car is daily driver and other half drives it a lot. The pedal is certainly not OEM light but I only really notice it after driving a "normal" car. Worse thing is rattle, rattle, rattle (if that will bother you) and can judder a bit if your light footed with it (they really grip well).
Most amusing thing is when MOT time comes and some unfamiler mechanic goes to drive it on ramps etc. I have given up telling them about the clutch (as they all give me that look as if I am an idiot) and just watch them stall it a few times while trying not to laugh

Hi Steve,
I purchased it on ebay from an american seller. As off-putting as that may sound, all in all it cost me about £440 including customs charges
