Anybody done this?? any suggestions.... thought it maybe a cheaper alternative to a link setup.... I realise that the wiring and ignition is different... but I cant be that hard to change that... after all it has a fuel pump... 4 injectors.. etc...
Any suggestions ideas??

I know that the igniton is different... not right bothered about that because as long as I have a plug lead it will work... may have to pick somewhere to mount it... Was thinking about getting complete loom... and changing dashboard in the process to new style... Someone must have done this..

The only sensors that are the same are the crank and cam sensors and the water temp sensor. All the rest are different. You also need to bear in mind that the MY99/00 uses stepper motor idle control whilst all the other MY's use a linear motor type control.
So if you replace all that lot, plus change the inlet maifold/throttle body to get the idle control, swap the wiring looms or re-wire all the pin connections of the existing one then its probably doable, watch out for the fact that the later ecu tended to be more "timed up" than the earlier cars.
Interesting project though.

The wiring side doesnt bother me too much... I have done similar thing with saxo vts engines ---> citroen ax... 106gti > 106xsi...
Youve done one then youve done them all... after all its just and ecu and then a wire to a sensor... in theory..
Would be a nice project, but possibly too expensive for my new budget approach to this tuning lark...
