Default Rear Diff Oil Change

As title, how do you change the oil in the rear diff?

Cheers.

There are 2 plugs in the rear diff, the lower one is the drain and the higher one is the filler.
Just take out the lower 1 and leave to drain for 10 minutes or so and replace plug.
Then remove higher 1 and fill with 0.8 litres of clean oil,job done!
The plugs have a square in them which requires a special tool to remove them

Just make sure you can loosen the filler plug first......you wouldn`t want to drain the oil and then find you couldn`t fill it would you!

A half inch ratchet fits fine by the way.

Sure, will do.

What about the service interval? I was down at APi last year and DOB half joked the rear diff oil never needs changing

I wouldn't say never but it is a known fact amongst mechanics that diff oil doesn't need changing as much as engine or gearbox oil.

The bottle of Millers I'll be using has a handy filler straw to pour the oil in. I'll be using Millers CRX 75W90 NT for the rear diff which is what I used in the gearbox. Only changing it as I donT know when it was last done by previous owners.
