Nope, dead easy, it just pulls out. No need for special tools or anything. Do it on the dead box so you get a feel for how to get it out then you will be better able to change the one on the ' good box '

Just as long as both are similar codes TY754 VN1AA is correct for a MY 99 UK car.

The front and rear diff's have to be the same ratio don't they?

Probably a dumbass question.

No; Uk cars generally have a 3.9 front diff and a 3.545 rear diff with a 1.1:1 step off ratio in the middle [ multiply 3.545 by 1.1 and you get 3.9 ] That is to lower propshaft speed and reduces noise vibration & harshness [ NVH ] which many manufacturers spend heaps on doing.

JDM cars use a straight step off and have the same ratio front and rear. Their road speeds are lower than UK averages and NVH is less of a problem over there.
