Just bought a car there with these fitted but noticed one of the bushs was hanging out of its position slightly, I was able to push this in by hand but it sticks out again after driving, is there a washer supposed to be holding this in or is it fitted correctly as it is?

I reckon there are definately washers missing off there, You've been lucky that the bushes haven't fallen out by now.

Did you remove the original bushings? Or are these supposed to slide over them?

I would expect the orgs need removing.

This is std. (not mine but the same as it was) the inner sleeve is steel and is molded into the bush , this butts agains the nut

Hey Si, did you fit the sleave over the orginal bush or is that a full replacement? Just looks very tight to get a washer around

it was completely removed with the blow torch then the whole new powerflex unit fitted. the nut tightens on the inner steel sleeve there at the minute but the poly bush can move on the sleeve if you know what i mean, so a washer with an inner hole just slightly larger than the dia. of the sleeve in the bush, will push the bush in tight and not effect the amount of thread used by the nut.

That sounds complicated to ME an i am the one that said it lol

Did you get more noise from the reardiff from this modification?
I changed the outer bushings when swapping diffs and now it drowns quite much on deceleration. ;(
Had a look if the exhaust touches anywhere, but that´s not happening!

Yes but i changed every bush under the car for a powerflex and moved to 45 profile semi slick tyres and coilovers so i was expecting a bit more noise especially with the Prada spec 2 tyres.

@ Jas , let me know how u get on , i have looked about and all the examples are fitted just the same way the mine were done. another option would be a nut with a wider dia collar.

Thanks for your answer, in my car it sounds so awful, I can´t believe that´s normal...
And I only changed the outer bushings, nit even the two the thread is about!
It´s really like the exhaust is touching somewhere or even the propshaft...but it is not, I had a look today again! ;(
Could the diff be damaged? I always thought I would heard a noise during acceleration as well and more some kind of whine, not a drowning noise.

possible diff damage if its as bad as you say, under acceleration you have a lot of other noise goin on so would be possible to miss it, but wen you lift off you will notice it more. check the oil level in the rear diff, even give it an oil change and look for a silver shimer in the oil

I doubt that the reardiff is damaged as when I´m pushing the clutchpedal during deceleration, the noise stops and I can hear it whines quite a bit, but the rumble is over then...
Will have to drive to the mechanic again, as I´m stuck and the only explaination for the noise seems to be the Whitelinebushes on the outer side "of the diff mounting".

after rear bushes being fitted on mine it does the same, makes a failrly loud vibrating noise, that i aslo thought was the exhasut rubbing.

i think its just the nature of the rear diff vibrations being sent through the chassis when letting off the throttle/deccelerating.

good to hear another person has these sounds after changing the bushings, as I was afraid something is damaged!

Well I will know for sure if that´s the only reason, when I visited the mechanic!

FMP do you have washers fitted?

I looked at it last night with the nuts off as these sit tight to the inner collers, so its not going to fall out, the only thing is the outer bush way do, sent an email the other day to powerflex with the picture and they say there should be a washer fitted and he's sending me out some FOC, result!

You will need washers as the bushes come in two halves which push into the subframe, the inner stainless sleeve then pushes into the centre of the bush halves if you dont have the washers all you are holding with the bolts is the inner sleeve amazed they have not fell out.
