Red face

Ok Ive just installed a defi turbo guage and im experiencing the following :

the gauge seems to fluctuate madly and I mean madly hovering around the 0.5 kg/cm most of the time on boost

once a short run has been completed I checked by pressing the peak button and this sat just under 0.7 kg/cm

1) is the fluctuating correct? its VERY fast

and

2) does holding around 0.5 and peak of 0.7 sound about right?

(my99 with ITG, scoobysport mid and rear)

thanks

Robski,

Sorry I can't help m8, but where did you get the Defi from and did you mount it on the column?

I quiet fancy one myself.

Mine peaks at 1.25 holds around 1.1 /1.0 held

Can't say mine fluctuates though, assume you have checked the pipe connections are all tight, and you've taken the pipe from the right place??

hiya dude.

The fluctuation can be fine - but that sounds very low boost. The MY99 is supposed to be around 0.9 bar held (just under in kg/cm about 0.88) with a peak of around 1.0.

My car, full decat and ITG was getting 1.0/1.1 peak on the gauge and 0.9 held.

You sure its fitted correctly, no leaks? Otherwise get you motor on the Select Monitor at a dealer to make sure everythings ok....

Cheers
Neil.

Just above heat shield?

Rob(ski),

You've tapped into the Actuator line which is why it's fluctuating so much (this is what the Actuator does ). Is it an MY00<? If so, there is a spare outlet on the manifold, right in the middle. There is a spare rubber bung over it and you should connect your boost hose to that. If you want some pics, have a look on Chiark's Gauge Fitting Website and for further instructions.

Ta,

Matt

I had real trouble finding a local supplier but try any decent car spares shops (not Halfords )

Failing that, Demon Tweaks sell it.

Thumbs up

Glad you got it sorted

Do a search on Psi conversion on google.com, is a bit of a pain everyone talking PSi / Bar and us peasants having defi's not knowing what they mean

Well Bar to PSI is ( Bar / 0.069 ) and PSI to Bar is ( PSI * 0.069 )

Can't remember the kgcm3 to Bar but it's something like 1.1 kgcm3 is 1 Bar.

This page has a convertor on it - very useful

http://www.worldwidemetric.com/metcal.htm

1.1 kg/cm equates to 1.078 bar or 15.6Psi
0.95 kg/cm equates to 0.93 bar or 13.5Psi
