Just got my first Scooby a few weeks back, love it to death, but there's been one strange thing i've noticed:

The previous owner had a Prodrive Quickshift kit installed, which works great, but i keep getting problems getting the car into 4th gear, mostly when i try to shift fast, or downshift from 5th.

Did anyone else encounter this problem, or know what it is, how to solve it?

Thanks

Simon

Thanks,

but even with 3year warranty, the MY98 is no longer under warranty now :'(

Guess i'll have to take it easy shifting into 4th. No way to install another type of gearbox or something ?

OK, but i was thinking like maybe STi had a strengthened gearbox perhaps? Or some other supplier was providing gearboxes that don't break...

Thanks

Dont bother fitting a STI box as my MY99 STI5 type r has had its 3rd/4th and 5th/reverse snycros changed last year under warranty and the problem has now come back with 4th crunching when it is engaged at over 4500rpm.

bummer again...

i haven't really paid attention as to under what circumstances the problem occurs, but i think it's usually when i'm flooring it, or want to shift down 5->4 to nail some porsche or something ;-)

Indeed looks more that the syncro is crap, and as a result the gear bounces, thus destoying the gear itself...

Any real investigation done ? Any real solution ?

Thanks

Simon
