hi can anybody help with a problem on my99 subaru impreza turbo my speedo was working before my gearbox went bang the i got one replaced but it was off a jdm sti with a different gearbox code but it drives fine through the gears but the speedo dnt work iv got the cables and the speedo drive what screws into the gearbox right iv tryd several speedo drives but still no joy any response will be much helpful thanks

99 be electronic not cable.... wat gearbox have you installed?

 

my old box had this code on HL-TY754VN1AA the new code on the box is EF-TY752VB3AA WHICH IS OFF A JDM WRX MY 93 SO WOT CAN I DO MANY THANKS

 

Turn off your caps lock, and if you didn't buy and fit the rear diff that came with that 752 box, get rid, and find a proper replacement.

If you are running it with the standard MY99 rear diff, the speedo problem will soon be the least of your worries.

 

lol dint mean put them in caps lol yea so shall go bk to the uk spec box. I got the jdm box cheap at the tym when money was a bit tight. When i put the jdm box on my car it felt a lot faster then before. Justed cant stand the speedo not working. many thanks

 

It will "feel" faster/more accelerative because the 752VB3AA box has shorter gear ratios and a shorter front final drive. However, because your speedometer isn't working what you are not aware of is that the car isn't actually faster, it's travelling slower for any given engine speed in any given gear.

The big problem you have, by the sound of things, is that you are running mismatched final drives with a 4.1 front and a 3.545 rear. That will be putting a significant amount of load on the viscous coupling in the centre diff, and the usual outcome for people who do that is a post on here asking why their gearbox has broken.
