Any experts on scooby air flow meters?
#1
I have a 1998 WRX STI4. I think the airflow meter has died. Symptoms are:
With air flow sensor connected, engine will hardly run at all. However, the 'CHECK ENGINE' light is not on.
With air flow sensor dis-connected, the engine will run, although lumpily & with little power. The 'CHECK ENGINE' light is on.
Can anyone shed any light? If it is the sensor, where do I get another?
All help appreciated, as I'm fed up of driving a WRX with zimmer frame power levels...

thanks great
If the sensor is connected it'll only run with frantic throttle blipping, but if you try to drive it stops dead. Reckon the power output is down to 2.8bhp.
At least with the sensor disconnected it will drive on 'limp' mode.
As an aside, had a drive in a Peugeot 206 GTi the other day, and I reckon the Scoobie is STILL quicker in limp mode!!!!!!!!
Chortle chortle.
Thanks
