Was quoted £650 for down pipe from scoobysport to fit on my uk300ppp,has anybody had this done,is it worth it.

Something is seriously wrong with that price if you are just after a downpipe!

They are the same price as the pre-facelift downpipes, according to Scoobysport, at £180+VAT+fitting. I am an idiot and I have done a downpipe swap with just axle stands in well under an hour, so won't be that expensive for SS to whack on for you

The downpipe does indeed make a good difference to the car. Dunno what the cat setup is like on the new fellas, but the old girls breath far more easily in comparison, which is most deffo a good thing!
It is a bummer to have to slap it back on at each MOT, but you won't be having to do that for a while
It is nice to hear the turbo quietly singing to you at low speeds too

Do it, you know you want to!!!

P.S. If it is the whole exhaust system that you are going on about, then rest assured, you are getting one of the best, with excellent performance gains like the big boys, but without a lot of the excess noise. Excellent choice

 

Cheers for the info,the price quoted to me was for down and up pipe not full system,do you think its worth doing whole system replacing my prodrive bits.I also thought price was high and when questioned they said its four hrs labour.

Up Pipe?

4 hours labour is way over the top, IMO.
Deffo better than the Prodrive stuff, I am surprised that other on here are not answering this one too?
Forget them for fitting, as whoever you spoke to blatantly made that figure up for fitting, unless thay have radicaly changed from the older models. Email them and you should get a decent answer..... I could be wrong withn the fitting time, but like I said as a muppet I have swapped a downpipe flat on my back mostly in under an hour, properly.

If not, contact www.subaru4you.co.uk, based in thatcham, Berkshire, check whether they can fit the parts and how much to do so, order the bits from Scoobysport and book her in with them. Good company, have had services, brake upgrades and other bits done too by them.

Does anybody else know what exactly is meant by this 'Up Pipe' thing?

Is there something radically different to the new WRX's that requires this part?

The new WRX has an extra cat in the up pipe which is the
other side of the turbo, its quite difficult to get to so
thats probably why theres such a big labour charge.

Think it was something to do with just the new WRXs. They have a small up-pipe as well which I think also has a small cat in it (not the meowing variety ).

I think without the uppipe change at the same time as downpipe, it can run into overboost problems....but then I could be talking out my backside Just remember reading some previous posts about this in the drivetrain section (I think....)
