Question

Greek Subaru offers 2 kits upgrading the MY01 WRX to 255hp and STi to 330hp under warrany as long as car is brand new. Anybody knows if prodrive has anything to do with it?
I wonder if this fitted to euro/uk car will be also under warranty in rest of Europe?

I don't think that Prodrive have their performance kit ready yet. The STI one at least. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have not heard anything yet. At least on here. The Greek package sounds a bit fishy to me. Be interesting to see how reliable this package will be. They must be confident if they are still offering the 3 year warranty on them.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Stelios,
I seem to have been getting a lot of stick over my STI which is on order. Seems to be a simlar bhp to the greek one you mention. Do you have any further details as to what they do to them. Is this is the case then my car doesn,t seem so faqr fetched now.

Question

Hawkeye,
Just learned that apparently the kit is provided by some tuner from Austria. It was dynoed by 4T a greek motor mag, short of 330 about 10 bhp (attributed to motor being still new) but worse I saw the torque curve, it was a bit on the curly side! For sure they are upping the boost by chipping it when i learn more will advise. My q is if this is a euro-wise mod as it should be for warranty issues .

Stelios,
I don't know i'll ask my dealer if they know anything. maybe this is the mod on my new STI. However the dealer did say they were changing the exhaust etc. Surely the ecu should be re-mapped not just chipped for over boost. The warranty issue remains. My dealer has assured me the mods to my car WILL NOT affect the warranty. I'm in the UK.

Thumbs down

Stelios the kit consists of a new VF35 turbo(not sure for the code but this info comes from the local Subaru service) and the piggy back ECU (more boost-fuelling). The kit is Made in Greece by Dynamic Drive (this is 100% sure), I am not sure if it is produced in Austria.
However I think isn't paneuropean product.

Jim,

The VF35 is standard fitment on all MY02 STIs. The MY01 had the VF30 and the MY02 has the VF35. I found out from some guys in OZ who own the new STIs and then I put up a post about it here in General and Dave TS had a look at his wifes MY02 STI and he verified that it had the VF35.

I'm sure you are probably correct about the piggy back ECU. I think Dynamic drive are the ones that did the 1600cc scoobies. That is, fitting them with a turbo charger, a piggy back ECU and an intercooler under the engine They made 143hp I think. I heard they had lots of problems too, but this last point could be a rumour. They probably have the contract for the STI now. Subaru still give out the 3 year warranty too.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

This is completely true and the STI 330ps suffer from excessive LAG and isn't drivable low down, due to bigger turbo...

Also the turbine blades quoted: "of twin design" and the picture of the turbo I saw remaind me very much of my non WRC VF22...
