Prodrive Performance Pack
#2
Hi,
As far as I know the PPP gives you the following (at least it does on my RB5 WR):-
1. Prodrive ECU
2. Exhaust
3. Revised intercooler piping
4. 'WR Sport' rev-counter (not sure if this is on non-RB5's)
5. Torque
6. Grin
I think there are some other options, including brakes and suspension but I think the items I've listed are pretty much it.
ta,
Matt.

It depends on the MY to what you get. The older ones were back box, IC piping and ecu. The MY98 had a ram air filter but I think this was dropped for MY99. The MY99 and MY00 had the resonator centre section as well.
The WR sport gauge and WR spoiler for the RB5 WR sport version was only if you specified it as a WR Sport RB5 when you brought the RB5 new.
I think the above is correct but I am sure someone will correct me at least 20 times if not .

The mods done to the ECU ... what are they ? Just a turbo's pressure increase or what?
I'm quite "afraid" of touching the ECU:someone told me it could damage the reliability of the engine...
what do you think of it; is it a mod i could face?

chip change AFAIK the boost is upped a little and engine map changed. Its the only ecu performance mod authorised by Subaru UK to still keep the warranty. For a manufacturer to back a mod like this they must have confidence in it not going bang otherwise the warrnty claims would be very expensive

Do you think i can get only the ECU modified?
My '98 has already a full exhaust system and a K&N filter plus 99 oct fuel. This could be the last mod from my point of view but still remain sceptical about the reliability after the mods upon the ECU... bah!? Really don't know
anyway thanks to all

PPP only comes as a package - it's new everything (so you'd end up with 2 ecu's).
Also, above is for 99/00 only - I believe the '98 PPP was a bit different?

The PPP is as safe as they come. It is a very conservative increase in boost only in the midrange. It makes more power on 97-98 RON, but works safely on 95RON, but not below. In the UK you keep your warranty.
On the old shape it is a replacement ECU with a new map for timing, fuelling and boost.
On the new shape it is an RPM dependent MAP sensor remap and relies on the ECU to control timing and fuelling to optimimum.
I wouldn't touch the new version with a bargepole at the price personally, but on the old one I would only buy it if warranty or "fit and forget" is important to you. In Italy, I suspect you lose your warranty with it?
