What clutch for 500 ft/lb, possibly more?
Hey all,
What clutch would people recommend for car hopefully running 500/500? I've got the AP Racing 6 speed organic at the mo and she hates 1.8 bar boost and slips, even though almost new and not been abused as such. Looking for something that will be easy to pull away with or park in garage type not on or off and nothing in between type. Ideally if its good for 530 ft/lb and fast spool that be great.

I would be very interested to hear opinions on this!
I have an Exedy organic on my 470lb/ft forester, and she's about 80% worn after only 6 months of normal, but fast driving!
I'd like to hear opinons on the different twin plates!
Thanks
Dan

As a cheaper but equally effective and strong alternative you could look at the ACT single plate offerings. These are getting some fantastic reports from those that have used them. Including several folks in here.
They come in a variety of flavours and support 400ft lbs right up to 618ft lb and beyond depening on what combintion of friction and pressure plate used.
Bob'5 is a UK stockist I believe.

Good thread! plenty of helpful traders!
Has any one gone from and exedy organic with light weight flywheel to a twin plate?? (thats what I may be doing)
How do they compare??
Like wise, I am very interested to hear a comparison between a standard 6 speed and a twin plate,
specifically, do you have to rev her alot more to pull off smoothly??
How heavy is the pedal compared to standard
thanks

The Twin is sharper and can take a little getting used too, they have a slightly shorter bitting point which causes this. They are not like a switch which some are and when you get used to it you will be OK.

Could you quote me on the following please (and advise which you'd prefer):
Note: All for 6 speed in STi 2002 uk
ACT 6 puck sprung 240 clutch
Clutch Master FX300 240 clutch
Both good for 550 ft'lb.
Either will need to work with fidanza 240 flywheel that I already have as is almost new..
I cant do the Exedy twin plate jobs or anything in that territory.
Please PM

I run an OS Giken multi plate in my STi type r and have found it to be very strong and reliable.
I think they do 3 different kits for the impreza so should have something to match your needs.
The uk dealer is:-
OS Giken UK (R.B.Motorsport)
Unit C4 Towngate Works Industrial Estate Dark Lane
Mawdesley Lancashire L40 2QU, UK
Phone: +44(1704)822-848 Fax: +44(1704)823-231

Web : OSGiken UK - R. B. Motorsport - OS Giken Parts Specialist
Just thought I would throw another one into the mix! LOL
