DO I NEED LS OIL IN REAR DIFF
Howdy,
I have 06 STI Type uk with DCCD
Question is do I need LS oil for the rear diff? Such as Millers CFX LS80w90?
Or is the same oil as I out in the gearbox OK (synthetic 75w90)?
Cheers
Ron

I can't give you a straight answer as it depends on the type of limited slip diff fitted to rear of the car (and that varies between year, market origin and spec):
If its has a plated diff like the JDM car then yes it should have a oil suitable for plated LSD diffs.
If it has a viscous rear LSD like the WRX, then it uses the same oil as the transmission.
The most accurate information with regard to the oil requirements that are specific to your car will be in the owner's manual.

Thx for the reply mate.
Just to be 100% sure I contacted Subaru's main technical help line.
They advised it's the same oil as the gearbox, so it must be a viscious slip diff.
