Question

Im thinkin' of goin the Dawes route (till funds allow Link ECU, FMIC etc) and i've read a lot of posts about them which have mainly been about the later small turbo cars. My question is beacuse of our bigger turbo, increased lag etc. would you leave the bleed hole in its standard 0.5mm? Also what boost are you running due to our lower fuel cut?

Any other tips etc from TD05 guys would be very useful.

Cheers,

Tony

Leave bleed as it is. On a Jap WRX you should be particularly cautious with raising boost to make sure the ECU keeps up with the fuel and the timing is OK with no knocking. Your small intercooler may also limit what you can do. I will leave more detail to the WRX owners.

Cheers for that John, but why be careful with the WRX? I didn't know they were particularly different from the early UK cars.

Ok WRX owners, where are you? Any info/advice etc?

Cheers,

Tony.

Possibly not, but are they mapped safely for 95 RON fuel? If you run a car mapped for 95 RON on 97-98+ RON and then up the boost you are likely to be safer than upping the boost on a car mapped on 100 RON and run on 97-100 RON. This combined with smaller injectors and a small intercooler suggest caution. IMHO a check on your fuelling, ignition timing and knock is mandatory WHEN FITTING it. On a UK MY99/00 I would just slap one on with a boost gauge and possibly an AFR meter as you are safe up to fuel cut on these cars. Yours maybe also, but I am just advising caution.

Cheers John, your advice will be taken on board.

Anyone actually fitted one to an early WRX yet? If so was the fueling, timing etc checked?

I'm also thinking of getting one from Jamie as it seems like a cheap mod for big gains. My 92 WRX needs more power but I don't know how it (dawes) will affect my baby.

LOL . I wouldn't worry too much, the fiancee keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Have you got any Dawes in stock? If not how long does it take to get them in?

Wink

Phew! LOL

I have got some in stock, as long as you arent after the AFRs which are on back order.

Getting the boost controllers takes around 5 days, though, speak to you on Monday.
