Lethargic in Second - but only twice!
#1
I went for a bit of a drive tonight (to Coventry and back some 220 miles or so) and was on the way back having given the car a fairly good workout.
So... I planted it in second and it just felt, well, sluggish, as if the ECU was holding back.
I eased off and tried it again, fine this time...
I carried on and took it down a lane to see if it was ok, it did it once more and was fine otherwise (pulling like a train yadda yadda )
Any thoughts on what it could be? (bad petrol or something perhaps) It's the first time it's ever done it and was fine after the second one.
ta,
Matt

Could be emissions/noise control - planting the acclerator after having it fairly constant in 2nd gear at about 3000RPM on mine occasionally resulted in only 10 PSI on the original and PPP ECU at least on MY99/00 UK cars. It certainly is quieter when it happens. A boost controller gets rid of it.

One of the more useful improvements of the Dawes to me - or at least the 'most used' - lots of things hanging about at 40 around here, and sitting behind them waiting for traffic to clear then putting the foot down & nothing happening was rather unsettling! Goes like poo every time now (that's the good poo rather than the bad stuff )

I'm with you on this one John
Before my LINK I got caught out many times. unfortunately it seems to happen at the perfect speed for overtaking a truck. It's doing about 45 and your sitting in second behind it waiting for a break and then there's a little gap and you pull out to pass and plant it and very little happens Good old subaru engineers!!
Paul.
