Default flywheel options.

gonna do clutch soon and heard bad things about skimming the oe wheel, want the car to be as the oe feel but will be running about 280/280.what is a cheap option? i believe the oe sti one would be good, but how much is a new one? really dont want to spend £150-200 on a flywheel.or is it better to have oe one lightened and balanced,i really havent a clue and it seems alot of money to buy a lightweight wheel.really dont want to do clutch and then get judder cause ive left the flywheel!any info on what options i have would be great! car is my99 uk turbo wagon. if i do have to spend £200 then so be it,i dont want to cut corners but surely u can do something without having to spend that sort of money, cheers scooby people.

I fitted a Fidanza(SP) flywheel and have no problems with it,
The clutch bite is very delicate once you fit a lightened fly.

If you want the car to behave the same as OE, then simply have the OE flywheel skimmed and balanced for approx £20 at a local machine shop.

My missi happily drives the car with a 4.3kg flywheel but I would recommend a 6.3kg one to most people looking for something easy to drive, whilst giving nice improvements.

If you want to upgrade to a proper lightweight forged flywheel drop me a PM

thanks for that,so what exactly is the difference in buying a new 6.3 flywheel for a good few quid and having the oe wheel skimmed and balanced for a very small fee?what are the differences? excuse my stupidness but i dont know, does it justify spending around £200? dont get me wrong i dont like cutting corners as far as my car is concerned but i dont like spending hard earned cash on things i dont really need! in other words,i hate skimping on things but dont like wasting it?

If you want to keep it standard, just have it skimmed and balanced - that way it will be the same as before.

Our lightweight forged flywheels weigh around half of your OE one and will significantly reduce the rotating mass and will make the engine livelier.

The choice is yours
