Default Boost Problem my first scooby not sure where to start

Hi iv had my first scooby about 4 weeks its great its a 98 uk 2000 turbo, iv but a boost gauge on and found its only boosting to 0.5bar the last owner has changed the air filter to an induction kit but other than that its standard
i have been running 95 fuel recently changed to 97 as iv been told this could alter things. what should i expect the preasure to be? I Have tried a manual boost controler i had for a previous car but it spikes to 1.5bar then drops to 0.6 so thats been binned any ideas are welcomed as i dont know where to start cheers phill.

Have you got a dump valve? you need to check all hoses to and from the turbo/acuator/boost solunoid valve,etc.... for leeks and cracks. the boost valve is bolted to the drivers wheel arch, there is lots of conections to check there.
i would think it should boost to about 0.7 or 0.8, but i dont no for shaw.
Hope someone else can shed more light. But start with the hose checks.

i would bin the ind kit. there crap anyways, they just suck hot air in from the engine, they also kill mafs, the 98 model is notorious for the maf failing due to these kits. fit a standard airbox. perhaps get the car on a rolling road as they will be able to check the maf and for you and see if its the cuase of the problem. not sure. check pipes as above first.
