Oil Consumption

I know it is a bit vague but - does anyone actually measure it or know what the 'norm' should be ? I guess with age/wear you should expect an increase in oil consumption anyway ?

Hmmm
I dont seem to lose any oil at all in my car
We once had to put in an extra 2 litres of oil in a TVR Cerbera, after a 1000 mile blast across France - I think we reckoned the car should have had wings the speeds we were doing!
Seriously though I dont seem to lose any - but then its not an exact science on the dipstick - I've never had to top up - even after a 2500 mile Jaunt averaging well in excess of 140mph for sustained periods of time (on an sti5)
However I change the oil about every 4000 miles

Although I don't own it anymore in the (nearly) two years I had my MY00 it didn't use a single drop between services.
This car was run in by the book, wonder if that makes any difference to oil consumption?

The only car I've owned that used oil was my old MGB GT V8. Every modern car I've had (Mondeo etc) has used no oil until about 6000 miles after the last change, then starts to use a little (but still more than 2000 miles per pint).
Which tells you how long your oil's good for ....

must say I've never checked the oil since last april, but was planning on doing so today, but it's dark now
to be honest I think the scoobs oil consumption is pretty good.
will check tomorrow and give you an idea of what level I'm at.
