Question

Drove an MY00 today with a quickshift - loads better than the standard 'box throw. This was one bought from the Scoobynet site when they were selling them. Does anyone know which ones they were, or for that matter, which is the best quickshift currently available for the MY00 ?

I've tried several quickshifts in my old MY99 car (same as your MY00)

The standard one - Too long.

The Prodrive one - Smooth but only a touch shorter than standard.

The standard GGR one - About the same as the Prodrive one, but a little notchy.

The short GGR one (no longer available, I believe) - Shorter than both the standard GGR and the Prodrive one, but even more notchy.

The BRD one - This one was the best one I've tried. Much shorter than the others, but smooth and angled slightly towards the cabin unlike the others.

Hope this helps
Andy

Blue,

BRD are BR Developments.

Sasim,

The monster deal was on the standard GGR quickshift, and not the shorter one.

Hope this helps

Thought about a quickshift, but does it need a bit more muscle to use?

My wife drives mine a bit,and as far as I am concerned the easier it is for her the better.........

...........then she can concentrate on pointing the thing in the right direction!

The GGR ones require a little more muscle power, but it may have been my gearbox that made them more notchy. (MY99 UK)

Falkland Performance Cetre in Glenrothes do a short shift. Had it fitted to MY99. Felt far better than what the P1 comes with. They used to do it for £60 to SIDC members. Guess it will be a few quid more now.

The Quickshift option for the Scooby always sounds good, but in practice is a little tricky. The std box although a mite slow is really the best option, and lets face it all the road driver will really need. It's not that much slower, and with the quicker change options you can actually defeat the meshing of the cogs and end up with a far less smoother gear change, and I guess longer term potential damage to the gears and perhaps damage to the 'box itself. A bit of a gimick methinks for road use.

Ah, but the standard long and lanky gear lever just LOOKS so out of place in a fast car. Especially with that dreadful corrugated rubber gaiter my MY98 came with.

I've taken the plunge and ordered a BRD quikshift - JKJ2 may well be right regarding its usefulness on the road, but Ratman is certainly right about the looks and size - SIZE IS EVERYTHING

I got one from Falkland for my my00 a year or so ago (£60) - had to modify (ie; file!) the metal bracket that mounts the assembly the quickshift fits into - otherwise 1st gear was difficult to select.

Wink

The BRD unit is more than £60, so I don't expect to be filing it or missing gears !!

Blue,

With the BRD unit you won't need to make any adjustment on there, it fits really well, you won't get 'bounce outs' either!
