Engine rebuild.

Planning for the worst here!!
I'm based in Derby (midlands) and maybe buying scoob type RA with no real service history (yes it's cheap but it has a cage with braces!!) and want to be prepared to either replace the engine or turbo etc if something goes bang!!
Can anyone recommend where I should look to take it to for this sort of work, eg. engine rebuild or swop and potentially how much the bill would be?
Cheers.

They've got a banner on here....you'll see it in passing.
Think the URL is www.tsl-motorsport.co.uk. They are in Keyworth, just east of Nottingham (might be a bit south as well ). It's in easy reach from the A52 anyway
Give them a bell, friendly helpful folk and nice cups of tea

Rebuild/Engine swap
Expect to pay Between £1,800 - £2,500 for a proper job
Re build takes longer in labour but parts cheaper about £1,000ish
But you can upgade parts - e.g. Cosworth pistons ect.
New engine - parts cost more - New engine £1,500 ish but the labour is cheaper. Grade A Subaru have a good reputation for recon engines.
I would suggest going to a specialist independent as the labour rates tend to be cheaper and they know scoobs inside out.
e.g Risbough 4WD - Subaru4U ect.
All these prices are approximate (it all depends on the damage) and the comments are general, but should give you a gut feel for what to expect
Cheers
