Obviously it will give increased acceleration,

But will it raise power or torque at the wheels or both or what?

It's obviously not like an exhaust in that it won't raise the engine's power but seeing as it is lighter, the engine doesn't have to works as hard, and therefore it should be more efficient in getting power to the road I presume.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Rich

The idle will become crap, and eventually , if it's too light the engine shuts down.

Cool

Hi Rich,

You may be interested to know that this has been discussed recently on the technical bbs.

Have a look at http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000300.html

Also you have to re-calibrate your heel+toe technique as car revs+revs+revs.

Rich,

everything on there can be decyphered if you just ask.

I am not a smart bloke, but it makes sense to me.

If you want the easy answer, it will rev both, both climbing and falling, much quicker.

The debate is to the detrimental effects, such as does it place, a hazardous load on internal engine components. That is where the theoretical stuff is coming out in force, and the jury is still out on that one.

Cheers Adam,

It's ok I did actually understand it all.

I was just having a joke as it seemed much more technical than the normal discussions on this bbs, which I think is a good thing actually. Sometimes I wish the scoobynet was a bit more like that than some of the crap that gets discussed on here.

No offence intended.

Rich,

I can't comment on the flywheel alone as I had the pulleys fitted at the same time bu the biggest difference I've noticed is how the car wont carry speed up hills, I now have to give it more throttle.

That's my technical description!

Oh and the other thing, blipping the throttle is much easier.

That's interesting Mo,

Why won't it carry the speed up hills I wonder?
I'd have thought it would be better, engine not working as hard etc.

Inertia or the lack of it will lead to the engine being easier to decelerate when extra drag is applied as in going uphill. IMHO.

Cube.

Rich

Do u need to ask why Mo9 cant gte up hills? - you know what I look like - need I say anymore?.........

Trout has a lightened flywheel - good on the track, apparently

You would only really get it doen at the same time as changing the clutch - othrewise a bit pricey

I dont think this is something you should consider in terms of benefits versus costs

Cheers fellas

Moray,

Just come off the 22b forum, felt like I should have put short pants on first, it was like being back at school in a physics class. LOL.

My brain hurts now
