Default Boxer Engine to RWD, which Gearbox?

I might buy a 1972 Celica, however it has a diesel engine. Lying in my garage there's a FWD 1.6 boxer complete engine with gearbox with only 10k miles from a '96 Impreza, hence I was thinking if its possible to get the engine to throw the power to back wheels. Is there an existing writeup anywhere on the net?
