Cool

Matt, they told me it's bad for Karma to talk about these things on the BBS

Sorry, just some fun, not meant to insult etc... I'm sceptical, but I've also been wrong before

I have used it for ages in this and previous car, can't comment on effects with a standard ecu but for me it made for smoother running, fuel burnt differently so needed to adjust ign dwell etc and fuel injetcion timing could be changed to improve ... that was using Motec. For Link it was all just smoother and more refined. Whilst I could never advance my timing significantly using just Broquet it certainly made the car more consistent on what I had, less likely to det etc. Fuel economy was better as well when I ran with Motec using the closed loop lambda control function. With Link I could lean the fuel map to achieve the same afr. Quite interesting really. I've had it so long its just part of the "furniture" but if it was removed I would notice the difference. I did some back to back power/torque runs when I put it into the "5" and with identical maps no real difference was seen, then I twigged it had richened up the afr so leaned it a bit and then it was better.

my two penneth ... "flame suit on"

Thanks Bob - quite encouraging results then.

How about a group buy then?

Matt, to be honest... Bob said the same thing when the group buy just started, and says the same thing today. His voice normally counts for something around here ...

Not that I always take his word 100 % on everything, but strange nonetheless that such a down to earth/knowledgeable guy makes such a statement, no ?

Theo,

I know that and I do rate Bob's advice highly - It's just that a whole bunch of peeps bought the thing and no-one seems to have an opinions, good or bad after the event.

It's just very strange.....

I'd be on here telling you how to connect Broquets to your toaster to give a better slice if I thought they were any good and I tried it.

I have to agree with Bob but running a standard ECU I did no notice a discernable difference to the car. Perhaps a little more economical but no 10 extra horses or anything like that. I bought mine largely on the back of Bobs technical appraisal of the product and am confident that if it's good for P1s, it's good for my standard car. The accompanying literature/brochure is pretty convincing too.

Just my tuppence worth.

I didn't actually buy any, I was interested in doing so like you guys but never did it. Was waiting for the results as it seemed rather expensive especially if you noticed no difference.

Re-reading my posts on the thread Markus did about it I can see why it was thought I fitted them.

I too would be interested and was going to post a similar thread to this.. hopefully they will notice this thread soon.

I bought on the group buy for the 22B, but had bought externally to that on the wrx before hand.

Made wrx smoother and seemed to get better fuel sonsumption.

for the sake of £80 or so I didnt mind the potential snake oil.

Didnt get quantitaive analysis like bob as I cant and dont map, but apart from trusting what he says, even on jecs, i noticed better pickup, ar much smoother running, as well as a consistentr 10 to 15 miles extra per tank. I ran it for six months before, and have run it for over a year after fitting, so dont tell me it is a placebo effect.

As bob says, part of the furniture, but I would say that I would fit it again to my next car.

I am more interested by the fact that he was only able to advance ignition on the motec and not on the link.

Bob can you explain the reason for this please? Sorry to turn thread twoards ecus, but I would like to better understnad the advanatges of the more expensive ecus.
