hi, ive removed the pivot bolt from the gearstick, but how does it come out of the lower socket? ive tried pulling it, no luck. then tried unscrewing it, but gave up after quite a few turns.
does it just have a lot of thread?

p.s. is legacy turbo, but same lever as '95 impreza.

It snaps into the lower socket, use the stick itself to leverage the sucker outta there.

You have removed the circlip ???

 

if same as 97 impreza -

u dont need to remove circlip (nasty job)

just put the pivot bolt back in and pull the lever rearwards and try and put some upward leverage on the ball joint it should pop out with a bit of persuasion.

To refit screw the **** back on and knock downward with the palm of your hand with the stick vertical (use plenty of grease)

thanks everyone, shall try in the morn and let you know if it works. am removing g/box as its stripped 2nd gear! i am going to cut and weld the bolt bracket a bit higher up to make my own quickshift while im at it!

Watch don't move it too high, more than 3/4" and your link rod snags the rubber gaitor, giving the gearchange a sticky yucky feel ! Legacy may be different

 

legacy is same as earlier impreza (94/95 type) lever. i was going to move it about 10mm up and see what difference it makes.
