Samco Hoses - Any Good??
#1
Toying with the purchase of a set of Samco blue hoses for MY00.
I know they don't degrade in oil etc and don't balloon when running higher boost levels like the standard pipes do.
Has anyone purchased a set of them recently?
What does the kit consist of for MY00 uk spec?
Does the kit include an induction hose similar to the Prodrive one on the RB5 wr model?
Any help appreciated

Fitted the intercooler set yesterday!(Three pieces, also blue) Haven`t yet driven the car but will do tomorrow. The main hose from the turbo to the I.C. was a bit of a git to get properly aligned on the turbo, but with a bit of adjustment of the other two ends and some general jiggery-pokery it finally went together.
I was advised to fit the turbo to I.C. hose as my car now runs a max. 1.2bar and the standard plastic affair has been known to fracture with age and increased boost, hence the Prodrive mod.
Really only wanted the main hose but difficult to get by itself.

Be careful with the Samco inlet pipe - there's been a few reports of them being too short, and even a few collapsing at high boost
There's a recent post somewhere here or on 22b about the collapsing issue.
Changing the intercooler hoses is a good thing - the OE one under the IC is very restrictive at the Y junction.

Hi, I have the Samco Hoses on my GT, my 99. It's true, they are a bit short, but it works. All the german tuners (not so many...) recommend them. My boost goes up to 1,3 and I have never had any problems.

I`ve got the Samco hoses fitted to my MY 98 after running 1.15 bar and managing to blow two turbo to intercooler hoses as the standard hose is not up to the increased boost. A must if you are tuning your car.

http://www.samcosport.co.uk/samco.asp?make=subaru is the blurb about what's what & they have a list of distributors here
Presumably there's others out there too.

I agree with robo the standard ones are ok but when you start to run more boost (tuning) they won,t last very long.
When i had the link package fitted to my uk my99 bob rawle went out to map the car and got up to around 18 psi and(bang)the y pipe just split.
The new shape models have stronger ones now.
Not had any problem with the samco hoses and they are very easy to fit.
