Just did my MY95 yesterday, gearbox drainplug at the bottom front of gearbox (21mm)then fill up through the dipstick tube under the bonnet, Used a short piece of hose on a funnel its a slow job pouring in about 10-15mins for the
4ltrs, Rear diff has two plugs, Bottom one is drain top one is filler, Use 1/2 ratchet to undo, Drain out then replace bottom plug and fill till it comes out of the top hole (1ltr) and then refit top plug, Job done

simple job. Makes me wonder why i've being paying subaru 70 quid an hour to pay a fitter £10 an hour to work on my car (i'm not bitter) LOL.
Sorry subaru UK, but i've just had enough of you using my wallet as a cashpoint!
Thanks for the response - I'll be on it tomorow - point of interest - which oil did you use? I'm going to use castrol syntrax for the gearbox, so for the rear diff...?

Hey there should be a sticker on the back of the diff and if it is a LSD make sure you use LSD oil. on the sticker it'l either say LSD or not if your sticker has worn off there is other ways of telling

Top tip regarding the rear diff - crack the fill plug 1st. You don't want to drain all the oil then find out you can't get the fill plug undone!

i just do mine by feel, tight but not that tight the threads are gona strip.

very good tip as jay said, crack the filling plug 1st using the 1/2" rachet and maybe give it a tap with the hammer if its really tight, then same on the drain plug.

i used a syringe to refill it. simply sucking the oil out the tin and then squirting into the diff.
