Hub/ABS Compatability

Hub/ABS Compatability
Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me?
I have a MY00 Classic Impreza Turbo, Uk car.
I think one of my wheel bearings is going and as I could get hold of 2 low mileage complete hubs for less than the price of a bearing I decided to buy them and fit them instead. I was swayed by not owning a wheel bearing press so I figured swapping hubs would be easier than trying to get a bearing out.
Anyway, I think my car has the later ABS system where the sensors work on the driveshaft, not the hub (not fully investigated yet). The hubs I have bought have ABS rings on so must be the earlier ones.
Can I do one of the two following options or do I need to sell the hubs and just get the bearings done at a garage?
1 ) Use the earlier hubs and simply plug the ABS into the sensors on the other hubs (i.e. is the system the same but the pickups in different places?).
or
2 ) Put the later abs sensor onto the earlier hubs by drilling and tapping a hole and just remove the ABS wheel? Or is the hole there already?
If I can't do either, does anyone want to buy the hubs I have. I have both sides with ABS sensors attached.
Thanks
