I'm changing my 01 WRX soon for a 02 model.
The horrible sports seats have given my wife and I backache!
The buckets should be better but still lacking lumbar support.

Also the car is too slow esp' below 4K.
Interested to hear other owners views on the PPP.
1) is it much better?
2) is it worth it if use 95 RON?
3) how does it affect MPG?

I know the power figures but EVO found very little difference in performance figures. Hence i need to hear from people who've tried 'before and after'
I've already got the Prodrive box.(much better sound but doesn't seem any quicker)

Sorry if this has been done already, the search facility is down.

I had a ppp fitted on my new 01. I run 95 ron although the hiher version is recommended. When I picked it up you could tell a difference in acceleration & where it peaked around 4.5k rpm it goes through to 6k. 2nd & 3rd were noticeably quicker...

As for petrol it went quicker until the speed thing wore off a little, bu I haven't noticed a hugh difference in petrol consumption.

Personally i think it has been worth it though I have had many mods etc including exhaust system & perhaps they
have added little amounts of BHP!

I know RB SCotts (Scott) was running 288bhp on the rolling road & I followed him the other day & he spat out a half foot flame.....

Yep, I thought to myself all those mods have been worth it!!!!

The "official" MY01 PPP is strangled by the 1st (turbo up pipe) and second (downpipe) cats, which remain in place, and struggles to give more than a full ScoobySport exhaust (250bhp or thereabouts).

The only way you can get serious bhp is to do what Scott has done and combine the PPP with the full ScoobySport system.

Of course, you then lose your warranty.......horses (pardon pun) for courses

I am having the full exhaust system fitted soon with up-pipe. You imply that this should be accompanied with the ppp for max effect.

I thought the ppp was an exhaust and chip upgrade. Pete didn't imply there was any merit in rechipping.

What's the full picture?

Dave was saying it the other way around, If you get a full Scoobysport system you would get slightly less power than a ppp(so a good investment)

He was saying that the ppp needs a bit of tweeking to make it a superb drive

The PPP exhaust is only the backbox and rear cat, it leaves the cats in the up pipe and downpipes in place which really strangle it. Not criticising it, just stating the fact.

Really??!!

Ive ummed and arrrred about this one for ages now

I paid to have the PPP because of the warrenty.... now to get the best out of it i need an UP/DP which invalidates my warrenty

The only thing i can say is that a PPP on its own transforms the car and is a worthwhile investment for that reason alone. If you NEED a brute if a car then a PPP is a waist - get a scoobysport full system and then wait (in line eh Dave) for a link. It will end up costing the same, invalidate your warrenty anyway (as would fitting the up/dp to a PPP) BUT give you a fair amount more power than the PPP/de-cat route.

And you give Pete Croney and Bob Rawle your money not IM (which id much rather do!!)

I went the PPP route mid last year and the Scoobysport exhaust got added on later in the year, and the result...

Had a chat with BRD re the Link and was convinced enough to put down a deposit. As far as the warranty is concerned my understanding is that it only invalidates the bit it relates to (e.g. if you fit a DP and the turbo goes you are still covered). Having said that the Link is probably more likely to give you problems if you need to claim against the warranty for any engine related problems.

Yeah really, I was taken aback too...i mean Pete having a ppp fitted? That's really saying something for the product, or perhaps there's a reason..

Scoobysports own SSS system "Scoobysport Super Speed", now there's an idea.....

Cash Cheques to Knowlesy!!! (LOL)

Leda really IS that good on a MY01 - the stiffer shell really suits it and vice versa.....

PPP......I couldn't possibly comment.....yet

Knowlesy,
I reckon Leda is probably the single best upgrade on the new age as it improves so many areas of the driving experience. On the track it is simply awesome.
