Help needed. Fuel problems when cold
#1
Hope some one can give me advice
When I start the car and try to pull off. The engine is starved of fuel for a second here and there which makes for a very jerky first five minutes of any journey.
As soon as the engine is very warm and I take it over 3,000 rpm no problem. Drives wonderfully.
When I stop again and the engine has cooled for a little, but the temp gauge still has a healthy warmish reading I still get the same problem.
Two things spring to mind
1. ECU - The Automatic Choke
2. The fuel I am using
My car is WRX MY94
HKS Dump Valve and Air Filter along with RS exhaust system
(Based in Brighton but takes regular vists to Horsham and East Kent)
I only put super unleaded in the tank? I have put a few tanks of Optimax in around about the time the problem started
Would a fuel additive help? to get it closer to the 100RON they use in Japan and which I assume the ECU is set up for?
Any ideas gratefully received
Thanks
Steve
