oil leak
hi everybody
i have a small problem (i hope) came back from a long trip up to scotland and back again in a day , park my impreza uk 2000 turbo 94 wagon up on the drive and when i came to take it off the next day i noticed some spots of oil under car so today i got some gunk oil cleaner and cleaned round where it looks like its coming from , its looks like its coming from the back of the cam cover right at the bottom where the engine goes into the cover and running down cover onto a rubber hose and than onto the drive, so if your looking from under the car its on the left hand side of cover (passenger side) just above rubber hose , i had the cam shaft seal and new timing belt done about 4 or 5 months ago after its was dripping in the middle of the cover , can someone please help in identifying the seal and an idea of cost , i have a pic but don,t know how to get it on the site , cheers in advance.

From the picture it looks like its coming from the Cam seal as the arrows
are pointing forward of the Cam Cover(and the cover looks dry).
If the front cam cap has been removed at some time and not had 3 Bond re-applied to the mating face,it can also leak from there.
Easiest way is to remove the Right hand Outer Timing cover and see if there is any oil dripping down from behind the Cam Pulleys.
No.16 - Cam Seals
No.26 - Front Cam Cap

make sure your cam belts not contaminated with oil.
Had a belt change, and 2 weeks later had to replace the belt because of this.
OK so it may have been fine, but it's not worth taking the chance.
The incompetance of the garage not spotting the leak, cost me a 2nd belt in 2 weeks and labor, once again.
